Glowing Skin

As you all know I've been doing beauty posts on how to look good without make-up. It's been a satisfying journey behind the scenes, as my default face is finally my own! I'm so happy to hear many of you are really befitting, and looking forward to more posts. Today it's all about getting glowing skin. I'm not going to lie, and tell you my skin is perfect, but it's definitely come a long way! I'll be sharing with you some of the things that have worked for me. I've probably got one of the more sensitive skin types, which means I can't afford to get it wrong. Having faint freckles has helped disguise little blemishes for the mean time, but going bare faced means I want beautiful clear skin! I've always loved the concept of healing the body naturally, as I believe there's a cure for everything on this earth.  This is why I've tried my best to stick to natural methods, key word is tried! Here are 9 ways of getting glowing skin without make-up;

1. Eat Pretty. The most important part of glowing skin is eating right, which I've mentioned in my previous posts. A great book to help you understand which foods make you look your best, is Eat Pretty. It's helped me understand not only about which foods to avoid, but also what other things that may be affecting our bodies. There's a few fab recipes in there too!

2. Spice Tea. A slice of lemon, Ginger, a stick of Cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of 100% natural honey. Add as much hot water as you like and enjoy! All the elements in this drink have so many rejuvenating/healing properties, that will make you radiant (plus it's delicious!). Perfect for replacing those caffeinated teas in the morning.

3. Liz Earle has got to be one of the best brands I've used! Their products make an instant difference to my skin. The hot cloth and polish really makes you look fresh and awake (even when you're not really feeling it!). They pride themselves on their naturally active ingredients. I must admit I'm completely sold! Get one of their samples, and try it for yourself...

4.  Oats are great for gently exfoliating your face. They can even relieve red and dry skin. Just rub it into your skin with water. This will remove impurities and keep your skin looking fresh without being too harsh (perfect for more sensitive skin types like myself!). Did I mention they're also full on anti-oxidants? I've replaced my regular facial exfoliants with Oats and seeing much less breakouts!

5. Parsley Seed Masque. I received this as a gift from my sister and wow! It shrinks your pores and leaves your skin so super smooth! This mask is a deep-cleansing treatment that extracts impurities clogging the pores. It's definitely something I want to get my hands on again (for now I'm using it sparingly).

6. Turmeric Honey mask. This method is used most in India for blushing brides! It's to brighten your face and give it a lovely glow plus it's anti-ageing! I've tried it a few times, and it works a treat. I'm a huge fan of the results,  and you can leave it on for 15- 20 mins before rinsing it off. My only advice is not using this mask too late before an event. Especially if you're very pale, as if it's not rinsed off properly can make your skin look sallow.

7. Sunscreen. I never used to think much about sun protection, until burning my skin during the holidays. Tanned skin may make your skin glow in the mean time, but can age your skin terribly! Making sure you're fully protected against the suns rays, can be the difference between looking like a peach or a prune!

8. Coconut Oil. I left my two beauty favourites till last. Coconut oil is now being called a miracle food!  The benefits are endless so I highly recommend researching this super-food! I've only just found this in Libya, and I've been using it for a week. The results have left my skin remarkably clearer (I will show the results once I find a willing photographer). I highly suggest you all get your hands on raw coconut oil if you're searching for that healthy glow!

9.  Olive oil is great to consume (and very tasty), but I'd like to share the amazing benefits of using it on your skin! I recently had a friend recommend this as a make-up remover,  which wasn't surprising, as I already use it as a moisturiser! This oil is anti-inflammatory, can beat skin infections, protects your skin from UV rays and moisturises your skin without causing breakouts! It's perfect for all skin types.

      Yes you can use it in the kitchen for cooking/ baking ect, I even put it in my porridge! You're right it's great for hair and skin, so you can apply it as it is! The smell is very light, which is great too xx

    1. Walaikum assalam, I hope you're all settled in your new home :)

      It's so great to get your feedback Inaya! I use a lot of the things you've mentioned, unfortunately as you've mentioned we don't have online shopping here in Libya so I won't be able to get some of the things you've mentioned until I go to England for a visit. I'm excited to start using these natural ingredients instead of the usual creams :)

    1. I bought two different brands from a beauty store inside the same mall/building as Mono Prix (I think it's in the Soug iljum3a area). Both state it's pure coconut oil, but neither mention if they're cold pressed. I've seen these brands around in a few places I just can't remember where exactly.
